Learning and Development

Learning and Development at The Mulberry Bush Day Nursery

The EYFS is divided into 7 areas of learning and the practitioners consider this as they plan the daily activities and experiences.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

The hospital in the role play area helped the children to understand and learn about managing feelings as well as developing an understanding of dispositions and attitudes.

Communication and Language

The practitioners will support the children by talking to them and offering a narrative to their play and giving them opportunities to respond.

Physical Development

Painting a beautiful picture supporting the development of   fine motor skills by using a variety of tools and equipment. There are many opportunites at the Mulberry Bush to enhance the childrens Physical Development both indside and out.

Literacy Development

Story time is always available in all the rooms at the Mulberry Bush. A time to  enjoy a snuggle as they share a book together.

Mathematical Development

Counting and using numbers is incorporated into many of the activities and experiences. As the children develop through the nursery they are able to begin to use their skills and knowledge more independently.

Understanding the World

Understanding of the World is an area of learning identified in the EYFS and covers many aspects including technology. Technology begins with simple cause and effect toys such as pressing buttons to see what happens.

Expressive Arts and Design

Having the opportunity to explore media and materials encourages the children creativity. At The Mulberry Bush they are always lots of resources available to explore, make and create.
