About Us

The first of the Mulberry Bush day nurseries to open was our Ashbourne site, in February 1990.

The nursery was extended in 2004, and the main building now incorporates all of the day nursery units. There is a separate purpose-built extension, which houses the after-school club and playgroup. This day nursery has extensive outdoor play areas for all age groups.

Our Belper day nursery opened in 1992, and has had two major extensions since then. The pre-school unit and after-school club are housed in a separate purpose-built extension, and there is an amazing three-quarters of an acre long ‘secret garden’ to explore.

The Mulberry Bush Day Nurseries are family-run and the owner, Liz Sread, is a qualified teacher with 30 years experience of working with the under fives. We are proud of our position as one of the finest childcare providers in Derbyshire.

> We also accept all childcare vouchers.

Our Staff

Fully trained & knowledgeable staff should be at the forefront of any childcare provision.

At the Mulberry Bush Day Nurseries, we are proud of our track record on training & continuing professional development. The majority of our staff are qualified to NVQ Level 3 standard or equivalent as a minimum. They are also given the opportunity for further study to achieve Level 4 & degree-level qualifications.

The nursery owner has achieved Early Years Professional Status (a national status which identifies professionals who can lead and manage others to a high level, & who have a commitment to raising standards of care & education in the early years).

Our two nursery managers both have a Foundation degree in Early Years, & both are working towards their BA Hon’s. We also provide a comprehensive internal staff training programme, taught by both existing members of our team as well as external trainers.

Our staff turnover is very low, & we feel this is testament to the amount of opportunities for growth & development that we offer. In addition all new members of staff are required to undergo CRB & Police checks, to ensure suitability.
